Chicago Adventure

Flew to Chicago a few weeks ago to visit Dave's grandma and attend a Cederquist Family reunion!

Phew, he's flight legal.

Flight was pretty smooth, we had great seats at the very front of the plane with lots of space for G to roam and there was a lovely flight attendant who played peekaboo with him for nearly an hour.

Grampa picked us up at the airport and took excellent care of us all weekend...

(except for some rather subpar shopping cart buckling skills).

Other fun highlights:

A sweet hug from second cousin Jenny, 3 months his senior.

Cuddles from Aunt Ellen at the hotel breakfast bar.

An evening boat tour through Chicago and G's first lifevest experience!

More reunion pics to come!

Saturday in the Park

This kid looooooves the park!

In particular, the grass.

So much so that we constantly have to prevent him from eating it.

Yummmm.

You little weirdo.

41 Weeks Old

Babbling has continued, getting better at "mama" and closer on "dada" as well. He's also started this thing where he shrieks at himself in the mirror and then cracks up like it's the most hysterical thing he's ever heard. Apparently telling jokes already.

Turning out to be a super goofball, constantly making silly faces and entertaining his delighted parents.

His feet seem GIANT in proportion to the rest of his body, sparking hopes of tallness some day.

But not yet, little buddy! Not yet!

Please stay my tiny dude for now...

"Mama"

The path of destruction left in this mini tornado's wake
all melted away when his sweet little voice
squeaked "mama" for the first time today.

My heart has exploded.

40 Weeks Old

Happy 40 weeks bedhead!

Two things this week that made me absolutely swoon with pride - we discovered that Graham can follow simple directions AND that he actually remembers the books we are reading to him each day! At our last appointment, the doctor told me to start asking him to do simple tasks, then show him what I meant and he'd understand more quickly than we realized. What an understatement! We started out with a game - during peekaboo, asking him to hand back to us the shirt we were using to cover his eyes...AND HE DID IT THE VERY FIRST TIME! *genius babyyyyyy* Later when I noticed he was tapping his foot during dinner, I asked him to switch feet. AGAIN THE VERY FIRST TIME! Dad, I know you're shaking your head in disbelief right now ("Suuuuure.") so I demand that you watch this video immediately:

Are you not entertained?!?!

Amazing moment #2: we were reading one of his (ahem, my) favorite picture books that has cute little animals hiding behind flaps on each page when he began reaching directly for the flaps the moment we'd come to a new one. He knew exactly where they were on every single page, his cute little pointer finger would go right for them. *tear* He remembers what I'm reading to him!!

39 Weeks / 9 Months Old

A very belated post, but it was a bit of a rough week. A whirlwind trip to CA to attend a memorial service for a dear family friend was tough enough on it's own, but intensified by the fact it was my first time being away from Graham. Hugging this sweet boy ever tighter and feeling grateful for each smile.

A big thank you to Nonna for coming to visit and helping take care of this little munchkin all week!

9 Month Check Up

Saw the doctor for a check-up this week, just a few days prior to his 9 month birthday! It was a relatively easy visit, no shots (thank goodness) but did get a little bit of blood drawn. He just watched the nurse quizzically as she pricked his finger and squeezed out a few drops - brave boy never even cried!

Got a pretty sweet bandaid out of it too. First of many, I can only assume!

New stats:
29 inches long (two more since last time) and nearly 23 lbs!

Growing, growing, growing....

Bright Horizons

Jellybean was closed last week for summer holiday, so Graham went to backup daycare in midtown near our offices. Commuting with a child is TERRIBLE, after just one day we were ever so much more grateful for having found a permanent place near home, but it sure was fun to be able to visit him during lunch breaks. He looooved their ballet barre and wall mirror. Pulling up to stand AND looking at himself? Two most favorite activities in all the world!

G loved having a whole new room to explore and new toys to play with.

Even the jerk ones.

The best part about back-up daycare was that he was so close to us during the day - it was super easy to pop over for a quick visit during lunch! DVC works in the building literally next door, so it was about a 2 minute walk from his desk to G's classroom. One afternoon, he even went and checked Graham out so he could visit dad at work!

Charming a whole new set of teachers is exhausting!
