2016 Reading Resolution

A gal I know from college does a reading related resolution each year and I'm always impressed, as well as a little bit jealous by her resolve. She does a blog post about her goal at the beginning of the year, then follows up at the end of the year with a list of all the books she read. I find it so interesting to see her list, not to mention the sheer volume is impressive - last year she not only met her goal, but did so even after having birthed child mid-year! So, in an effort to spend more of my limited free time reading rather than catching up on terrible TV (sorry Scandal), I'm stealing a modified version of her resolution from last year:

Goal for 2016 is to read (or listen to) the equivalent of four books a month (meaning, if it's necessary to double up some months to get ahead or catch up, that’s OK), one from each of the following categories:
  • A book I have not yet read (there are several books lying around here that I started at some point in the past but never finished...totally allowing those books to count as "new reads" if I do get around to them)
  • A book I have already read (optional, can substitute one of the other categories)
  • A children’s book or YA novel (most excited about this one, ha!)
  • A book meant to improve my life in some way (hello parenting)
So that means hopefully 12 books in each category for a total of 48 books across the board. On one hand, I think oh that's totally doable. And then a second later I think, wait is it?? I'm really going to have to make a conscious effort to pick up a book each evening. Anybody care to join me in this adventure??? You'll have to post your list at the end of the year! (H & H have got this on lock, I have no doubt.)
