My Boys

It's SO cute when G falls asleep like this. Dave is amazingly patient about bouncing him on that yoga ball, and I absolutely love the moment when Graham finally zonks out and goes limp in total relaxation.

4 Weeks Old

One month old today (gah! how did that happen?!) and this little nugget is getting STRONG. Not only does he hold his head up and turn it side to side to look around all on his own, when he starts kicking those legs you've got to maintain a death grip in order to keep him securely in your arms. He's making great eye contact for extended periods of time and we even got our first real smiles yesterday! It was so exciting, Dave and I both exclaimed "YAY!" and startled him right of it, back into his standard concerned / alarmed / wide-eyed stare.

Graham has started sleeping beautifully in his crib for 3-4 hour stints of time at night, and doesn't seem to mind that mom purchased most of his sheets / burp cloths / blankets in a variety of polka dots.

We've been getting out of the house daily, attending various classes at the 92Y or going for walks to the park. Mom is slowly getting braver about venturing further from home - but fear of our first public diaper blow-out prevents us from heading too far away from the comfort of our own changing table.

Happy one month birthday, Graham O!

O Tannenbaum

Graham got his first Christmas tree this weekend. DVC carried home the perfect tree and we had quite a festive little evening - danced around to holiday tunes (don't you dare scoff at Michael Buble in this house!), strung up our lights and hung the six remaining ball ornaments that survived the precarious underbed storage in a terribly unprotective grocery bag since last year. Deck the halls!

Good tidings, good cheer!

Autumn Stroll

Our first walk with the little guy was at four days old. Four days! Looking back I can't believe we headed out that early. We didn't go too far, just a few blocks, but still. He was so tiny!! I think I was feeling brave because I'd actually managed to shower that day. We were a bundle of nerves, hanging at least 12 feet back from the street corner and waiting until the approaching vehicles had come to a COMPLETE stop before venturing slowly into the street with a death grip on the stroller.

Glad we made it out for a family stroll before the crazy weather started though (and while my dad was still here to take pics). It snowed on G and I a bit this afternoon while we were out running errands! I wasn't wearing quite a warm enough coat, but Graham was perfectly snug in his stroller.

Now when I go out for walks though I usually wear him in a sling or a wrap.
It's much easier than navigating the stroller and he loves being tucked in so close.

3 Weeks Old

Lots of new activities for Graham O this week!  His first subway excursion (mom could not have been more paranoid), first trip to Brooklyn (photo shoot for Christmas card), first train ride and visit to a town other than New York City (looking at homes in Pleasantville), first Thanksgiving dinner and first Christmas tree!

Graham's current favorite activities are going for walks in his sling and taking naps on our chests.
He is almost fitting into his newborn sized outfits and has been enjoying tummy time already.

A very nice gentleman in a coffee shop asked me a few days ago how old the little nugget was and after hearing myself respond "18 days" I immediately burst into tears. How on earth is he three weeks old already? It's mind blowing. Trying to enjoy and remember every moment I can while he is still tiny.
